Lori-
There is a Yogi Bear Campground called Sholes Bend, that is east of Branson. Away from all the traffic, but yet close enough to see all the sites. Just a thought.

1) What region would you like to see the rally in?
Some place central, Mid West
3) How many days are you willing to travel (one way) to get to a National before it's too far to attend?
2 or 3
4) Do you like the middle of the summer time frame or would a shoulder season rally be better (late spring/early summer or late summer/early fall)?
mid summer
5) Would it be fun to piggy back the National onto another highly attended event?
How about the International Teardrop Gathering (we will be attending and it is smack dab in the middle of the US).

Bethpage is great!

Bethpage is just up the road from us, therefore any time of the year is ok. Bill and I attended the rally in Perrin, Texas and only left the campground to buy ice and to eat with some Texans at what they call a town.

We had the best time ever at Perrin. You don't need a lot of activities outside of the CG. We lost money in the nice air conditioned hall with Texas Holdem, laid in or around the pool, and had a great time with the other attendees. Sitting around the campfire (artificial lights) was great-NO BUGS-and we got to know the other people.

Someone earlier wanted cool temps in mid-summer, well that only happens in Estes Park, CO, and us flat landers cannot breath at 7,500 feet elevation.

God Bless DriVer for taking on this task.

Nancy

The facility has a smaller secondary building where a dozen vendors could be setup separate from the recreation hall. The facility has a boat ramp and features excursions. Golf carts are available for rent. There is a large porch area with tables just outside and to the rear of the rec hall for smaller activities. The campsites here are typically large and have up to 50A, water, electric and sewer. The facility also has rental cabins for those not wanting to bring their RV and yet participate. The facility is very neat and well kept and should provide a very suitable location for the 100 rigs that I would expect that we could get for the 2011 National. The name of this facility is called, the Bethpage Camp Resort in Urbana, VA. Bethpage is the highest rated campground in Virginia. One of the important things here is the facility has a full time rally coordinator.

Bethpage can provide catering services which I believe is important. For a 100 rig event, that would be nice to have. It goes without saying that our traditional Pot-Luck dinner will be encouraged.

Located north of the east coast center line, the facility should be able to draw many members from the NE, Mid-Atlantic, SE & North Central area plus all others from the surrounding regions are most welcomed who want to participate in Chesapeake Bay area events.

I will make a more complete announcement is a separate thread as soon as all the details and the ducks are perambulating in as linear of a fashion as possible.
I was in the process of putting dates on our 2011 calendar and had to hunt through 17 pages of posts to refresh my memory for the 2011 rally place and dates. So I'm bringing this forward for anyone else who may need the information. I'm sure Mike will be posting his official announcement after the holidays.

Bill & Juanita, YES Those dates are indeed cast in stone and we have a deposit in for that time. You can call the campground to confirm.

We are just working out the pricing for the event itself. We are working out a Meal Plan including pot-luck dinner and breakfast, a day trip to Colonial Williamsburg and entertainment. The entertainment will be excellent and will follow our full dinner. We also want to include free time so you can go and explore on your own.

There will be several vendors I expect and Monday and perhaps Tuesday will be our seminar days.

The way this will work is that "ya'll" will call the campground and book your site and pay for that yourself. It will cost $38.80 to reserve your site, and you'll pay the balance when you check in at the campground. We already have parkers and you will be escorted to your site.

The options will be a-la-cart and we will link to that page using a PayPal account that will be setup in early January. There will be a small "Rally Fee" that will we hope cover consumables, name tags, etc.

Details will follow in the "Official Announcement."

I called to make a reservation for a cabin a few weeks ago after getting your email about the confirmed dates. Lady answering the phone was only the caretaker etc. She took my info down and said when they open for the season then they take reservations? She did take my credit card for the deposit. But not charged. I do hope that means we do get a cabin? Is it the same for the folks making RV reservations?

Are you asking if the rate is different or is the time is different? The dates that I put up should the dates that you are looking to book. You can arrive early or leave a little later if you want to. Just ID yourself as an iRV2 National Rally participant.

Just a suggestion, I would pay close attention to my credit card statement after leaving my credit card number with a "caretaker".

No charges yet and i am no dummy i do check. What i meant was when folks make reservations is there a different number or you will be making reservations with a caretaker taking info. I hope she pass;s the info on is what i meant to say and WE are not left without cabin. I am sorry for the confusion of my post.

Offices are closed till Jan 3 so i will call back and make sure she lumped the reservation with the irv2.com rally info.

To be fair to eveyrone here is a compromise location.

Geographic center of the contiguous United States

One of the locations claimed to be the Geographic Center of the Contiguous (or Conterminous) United States is pinpointed by a historical marker that is located within a small park near the town of Lebanon, Kansas. It is located at the intersection of AA Road and K-191, accessible by a turn-off from U.S. Route 281 approximately a mile north of the town.

This marker and the purported center should not be confused with the geographical center of the United States, which is measured using all fifty states, not just the "lower 48.
