Before I get any pm's, this message is not from me as moderator but just an ordinary iRV2 member. Looking over all the suggestions that have been posted on this thread the common thought is cool weather. Now whether that means cooler months or higher elevations is the debate.
I'm certain Mike (driver) will take all the suggestions that AndyR solicited under consideration in his decision making process.

Let's get it out of the middle of the HOT weather. If I want hot, I can stay home. I would rather see pre-summer of post-summer, ie, spring or fall.

Well sure enough, it didn't take long to get a pm. What I mean Mike is "listen to the members". Dang, what part of this don't you get. Andy asked for suggestions and he got some good ones, the problem is nobody would step up and take the reins until you did. If this causes me to be removed as a mod so be it. You get on an agenda and thats it. I'm hoping your rally will be the best rally in the history of iRV2.

The last time I made a proposal to hold the National Rally in September-October my proposal was rejected. I made a huge appeal dedicating a few thousand words to justify having a National Rally in the OFF season however my appeal was denied. It was adjudged that it is absolutely required that school age children, teachers or school employees be given the opportunity to attend a rally event since we are a family organization. I am bound by that decision unless the majority rules that we should hold the rally in the OFF season when rates are cheaper and the weather is cooler.

1) What region would you like to see the rally in?
Central - Grand Island, NE/Kearney, NE/North Platte, NE
2) Do you have a specific location that you feel would be fun for the event?
Since I'm of the younger generation (26yrs old) I would feel my input would be on the wrong end from the rest of ya'll so that would be up to anyone that would like to do some research. I know the Nebraska State Fair is in the fall, and I know in Central Nebraska there is A LOT of history stuff, even the great Archway over I-80 is out there and it's really cool to walk through that!
3) How many days are you willing to travel (one way) to get to a National before it's too far to attend?
We're insurance adjusters, we travel where the storm, and the insurance companies, send us. So anywhere works for us, we'll just update our location status a few days before and see what work rolls in from there.
4) Do you like the middle of the summer time frame or would a shoulder season rally be better (late spring/early summer or late summer/early fall)?
If Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma area........... TOTALLY FALL late October is amazing in Nebraska, all the smells from harvest in the fields, changing of life forms, trees changing over... it all is an amazing view!
5) Would it be fun to piggy back the National onto another highly attended event?
That would be great for people who are retired, but not so for those still working. Having the National Rally at the same time as the Good Sam Rally means some people will have to make a choice. It depends on what they are looking for - specific people, lots of vendors, etc. If they followed each other and you had the time and the money, then you could attend BOTH. Yippee!
6) Do you have any other suggestions or feedback that we should consider when deciding where to make the 2011 National?
Make it different, reach out on a limb, walk a line for a weekend AND DON'T MAKE IT A BUSY BUSSLE!! R&R should be the main focus for this one!

Playing devil's advocate here & without getting into actual dollar figures, what would be the cost savings for our 6 night Rally at Bethpage in the offseason? No excursions, just the basic Rally package.... 10%, 20%,... more? Just curious.

How is that devils advocate Lori? Is the off season (cooler) not what the majority wants?

I'm not sure I agree with a Rally when families having school-age children can't attend because iRV2 was founded on being a family-oriented place. However, I want to explore the soundness of an offseason event. By doing this, I'm sort of going against what I feel & the established rules for our Rally just to see what the other outcome would be. In my mind, that's being a devil's advocate.
