If I recall correctly, Ogalalla, Nebraska is fairly close to the geographical center. NATCOA used to do a rally and Truck camper show there, didn't work out so well.

The Ole RNE could make the trip without batting an eyebrow, but I lack the couple thousand dollars for gas to make the trip or the couple hundred the rally itself is going to cost (didn't last year run like $300 or more)?

There's a reason my state's visited map looks like this, sadly enough. Its taken 5 years to get that many states added:

Just think of the bee line of state maps that you can put on RNE's travel map! I think it's time for you to make that pilgrimage out to the Atlantic Ocean!

For the rally in Arizona we had members from North Carolina that live near me that went out to Williams in a fifth wheel! Like they might say round these parts ... "that wuz a fur piece!"

Ah, that'd be nice, heck, I'd love to be able to go back to my family's home state of Illinois again, but for now that kind of remains a pipe dream, unless of course, gasoline drops back to a $1.00 or less a gallon.

In three more weeks, my job ends, and I once again return to the ranks of the unemployed until my 6 months is over (Intel requires 6 months between working for them) or I find another job.

Still take a few years after I find a more permanent job to save up a month's worth of contiguous vacation time to journey that far east.

Just saw a piece on CBS Evening News ... try Austin, TX.

RedNeck Express, please don't place much stock in anything CBS News (L) has to say about Austin, TX (L). Just a little insight from a Texan.

Austin, TX has the lowest unemployment rate in the entire USA. They must be doing something right.

I also have a very good friend of mine who has grandchildren that live there.

Austin has a city saying of Keep Austin Wierd......Most Texans say Keep the Wierd in Austin......Otherwise known as Little Calif. Drive an RV or diesel truck thru there and you'll get yelled at cause you're killing the earth. Now go hug a tree.

That's the motto of the city I already live next to, the city across from the river has a matching bumper sticker that says "Keep Vancouver Normal!"

I have heard that half of all the jobs created since the recession started were created in Texas.

I drive a truck through Austin on a regular basis (four times last week). Never been yelled at there.

And we won't even start to talk about the Hill Country, which some have suggested renaming the Texas Toxic Waste Dump just to keep all the outsiders from moving there.

Traffic is terrible in Austin, in spite of double-decking I-35 and building two bypasses around it.

Of course, with a university population that comes is something like 7% of the city's population, plus the state capitol and all that that entails, the city is a pretty odd place.

And don't forget the famous Congress Avenue bat population.

It is apparent to me that unless a poster reads a co-zillion posts the topic is kinda a moot point.

Apparently many readers don't realize the venue has been selected for 2011 so posts continue to be made recommending areas.

Driver chose to change the topic to employment opportunities in Austin and some of us Texans chimed in with our personal experience rather than depending on CBS news.

Point being, do we still need a thread to select a place to have the 2011 national rally?

No, but it's the thread to discuss the 2011 National.
