First off, nothing iRV2 ever does at a rally could be confused for a campout, yer at RV parks with full hookups .

What iRV2 does do is a cross between a Jamboree and a Rally. The Jamboree comes in from the fact that ya'll gather in one big full hook up RV park and swap stories and occasionally food (You have catered events vs what NATCOA rallys do which is large potluck dinners and enough firewood to make traffic control signals to the international space station ).

What you've got here is the Annual iRV2 Wagon Circle . Yer best aim would be to pattern yourselves after the FMCA and whatever they call their gatherings as yer demographic is more closely associated with the make up of the FMCA than with any other large group already out there.

With all this pontificating going on, it got me to thinking what should the Texas Boomers rename themselves? They have members from other states and even one from the other side of the big pond...The Danes are Coming. I don't see it happening, the name change that is! Would "iRV2 Get Together" work for you Gary?

Why beat around the bush---iRV2 World Rally, that would cover it all.

Well, maybe not. "Intergalactic" would - unless you believe the theoretical physicists that say there may be as many as 11 parallel dimensions..... "Intergalactic Interdimensional Rally"???

Personally, I'd like to see some of our international members state whether or not they feel unwelcome or excluded by the National Rally term before I'd agree that there's any need to change the name, but that's just me.

Rusty, I was thinking the same thing. I always felt that our neighbors to the north and south were included and didn't participate for the same reason people from Oregon don't go to a Rally in Virginia. Distance. We interact with, camp with, and are friends with them on a daily basis. If they feel unwelcome, I hope they will let us know. Maybe a post on the Canadian Region asking them(I don't know where you would post for Mexico). I'm sure if they are reading this thread they would have posted by now. As to a name change, "The 2012 IRV2.Com Rally" would make sense to me.

We have regional rallies, so we do need to have a way of identifying the National.

Honestly, at the end of the day here folks .... if it (really) ain't broke why fix it? Coming up with a different name for a known successful annual event using the rationals submitted, I hope will compel someone to offer; there's no need to change the name. {Rusty ??}

It is what it is.

There has never been the smallest implication that suggests anyone is excluded from the National Rally. If someone wants to read into the (title) invitation that they are excluded due to borders, I would suggest that they're is no big hurry to get here because a simple eMail would dispel those apprehensions.

This is like saying that your Class A (or B or C) motorhome isn't a Class A, it's a Type A, because someone at some Official Office decided that it needed to be changed. Why? because they think they see a problem. Now, how many of us keep right along using the old terminology because we see no need to change?

Until I see a bunch of international members claiming to feel disenfranchised, (how do you like that big new age word?) I don't see the problem. That's just my opinion and everyone else is entitled to their opinion also.

DriVer:

As an ex-pat Brit, I thankyou very much for not including us British as "Europeans". Most of us older than about 50, do not consider ourselves such. Our motto is a headline from the Daily Telegraph back about 1952 that read "Fog in Channel, Continent Isolated".

Let's face it, we Brits fought two very bloody and painful wars (with the assitance of the US) to prevent the Germans from taking over the world. Now, they and the French are trying to take over the EU (including the UK) by politcal shystering!

If this post exceeds the "Political" parameters, feel free to kill it.

Glad we live in the US!

The current name works. We had folks from Canada at last years rally in Williams. I do not think they felt unwelcome.
