Excellent point! We've been up and running for 18 years and over that time we have had lots of posts and comments about NOT having a west based iRV2 rally.

So far, the 2010 Williams, AZ rally had more folks signed up for that than we are currently seeing on our (paid) signup sheet for 2018. This coming July 16th will show us as 30 days out from our cutoff. I am hoping that our registrations begin to ramp up over the next couple of weeks.

Comon' "West" folks, let's get'er done. Although there are hundreds of great locations West of the Mississippi River, we are hoping that the Las Vegas area is a good (re)start. Sign up for the International Rally today.

Still iffy if I can make it or not, got a lot of camper to still put back together, and I haven't even ordered the new cabinet doors, yet

The excuse regarding the weather is valid I suppose for some but living in So. Calf and doing much of my RVing in hot weather(as stated previously, I've been to Nevada Treasure Resort when the outside temps were 115)...still stayed cool in the rv, the pool and all common area's.

It seems the western rv'ers should have some concept of warm weather rv'ing ......oh well, I'm looking forward to it, no matter the temps.😀

Thanks Acampingwewillgo! Looking forward to meeting you. Folks from the northern parts of the West Coast, may not realize how nice the desert can be due to the lower humidity. I'm a native Washingtonian, but I now live in Texas. It is hot down here! Can't wait to get to the desert.

We visited the lovely State of Texas a couple years ago in the best month possible.... July(haha), so I know about that Texas heat too and your so right in comparison to the desert dry heat. 😎

All I have to do is go to the east side of the Cascades, most of Oregon is scrub desert.

I tend to save traveling in that kind of country for months like November - March, when the temps are down.

I did travel the eastern Oregon deserts back in August of 2009, did a whole lot of sweating and baking my ass while I dug for sun stones and fossils.

Lot of Generator running into the late night hours to cool down the camper enough to make it comfortable to sleep.

Also been to Houston in September, was hot and humid as the devil, love Texas, but its another winter month state for me

one West Coast RVer would be happy to sign-up but can't get the registration site to take ANY of my credit cards and has removed the Class A designation from the drop-down menu for RV type.....HELP PLEASE

Houston is always hot and humid. I live just north of Waco and we are entertaining temps this coming week in the 105-107 range along with a heat index that will make them feel like 110+. 90 degrees in the day and 80 at night in the desert with no humidity is going to feel chilly. But I can understand your feelings for not wanting to come to the desert. Those rocks that you were digging, are they like thunder rocks with the pretty crystals inside?

Actually they're a rare gemstone known as a sun stone, that as best as I recall is only found out in that little corner of south eastern Oregon near the town of plush.

There's numerous privately owned mines out in the alkali desert you can pay to dig at and also a public land area that allows only for surface collection, similar to agates.

You usually only find the yellow color stones in the public area, you have to go to the mines to have a chance at finding the other, rarer stones.
