I am in the market for 1998 Minnie Winnie at an RV dealer in Ohio. It is a 1998, 24 ft, Ford V10, with 55K miles. Price is 16000.00. The unit appears to be in great shape. My wife an I are going to drive it this weekend. Looking for advice feedback on this type of unit or price. Thanks,

Jim

hp22402, welcome to irv2
If you would go down to the NEW RIG SHOW-OFF and read the top post and treat you Winnie as if its a new coach some of what applies there can be used for what to look for with your coach.
The Ford part of your question the Ford forum or Class C forum can also help you.
I have had 3 v-10 Fords and they were a good drive train with very little problems.
As to cost check the blue book or someone may have a better surgestion for you in coming posts been out of market for class C recently.
Good luck on your quest and don't be to much in a hurry. Enjoy the forums and post often.

hp22402, the price sounds fairly good, but take off $800 if there's no generator. Understand that the 24 footer is a Minnie, not a Minnie Winnie. And if it has a trailer hitch, it's likely a class II (you towing will be very limited).

Thanks to both of you for the info. Troth, the brochure attached indicated it is a Minnie, not a Minnie Winnie as you indicated. Based on the floor plan it is a 22WK. It does have a generator and a trailer hitch as well. I plan to pull a 6x12 enclosed motorcycle trailer (motocross kids) and my trailer does not have trialer brakes.

The coach should serve you well for several years, but I would highly recommend that you go to a trailer shop and get the hitch beefed up. And you really should get a brake inspection of all 4 corners. You lost two feet going from a 24 footer to a 22 footer; -NADA values drop correspondingly from $16K to $14K. So try convincing the dealer that you want a complete brake job (and fluid flush) and perhaps four new rear tires...
Is this your first motorhome? Do you know what a PDI is, and the things to look for when buying a used coach? Where in OH are you?
I'm not trying to scare you, it's just that you shouldn't go into this transaction naively...

Welcome. Glad you found us. I know this sounds strange, but sit on the commode. Do you have enough room. Step in showere/tub, is there enough room. If you have kids, sit in booth ...enough room. Think of rain, will you be cramped? Things to think about. Good luck!

Allegro Happy, thanks for the tip. We will definetly do that.

Troth, not our first motorhome. We had a 93 Jamboree 26ft. Very bad experience, bought from private owner and frig quit week 1, battery quit first weekend we used it, rear-ended a person on PA turnpike. We bought in June.03 and sold in Oct.03 took a 3k hit to get away. I have been sleeping in a pickup truck bed ever since at the races. Finally ready to make another move.

I do not know what PDI is. I am from Niles, but work in Canton. My e-mail at work is altiej@timken.com. Again thanks for the info.

Jim

Picture #6 looks like a very SMALL refridge, but it looks like there used to be a bigger one in up above. Double check even though it says new. Good luck again.
