1st day with a motorhome!

Hello to All..
we have been campers for over 40 years now and just sold our toy hauler last week and today in an hour, will do the walk through and drive away with our 2005 Newmar Kountry Star motorhome.
Well since we are buying it in CA. but registering it in Arkansas, we have to pay a driver to take us and the motorhome to the Arizona state line and document that it was delivered out of state..
ironically, we will turn around and drive it the 175 miles back to Riverside!
well that's 40 gal of diesel shot in the butt huh ?
but that is the way they do it her so we have no choice.

This starts a new chapter in our traveling experience.
we look forward to the adventures and to all the great folks we meet on this forum.
Gods blessings.. jerry n Rosie

That is the strangest rule/law I have heard of in a long time. Well congrats on your new rig.

Safe and Happy Travels.

Welcome to IRV2! Too bad you couldn't find your coach in a state where sanity prevails. Oh well, will make for a good campfire story as you travel.

Welcome to iRV2.
That's not the first time I've heard of that particular application of a tax law.
Bought a portable generator in AZ and had to have it delivered to me in CA, to avoid tax, luckily you could see the state line from the store.
Drove my truck & 5er back into CA, took delivery, pulled a U turn and drove past the store all within 5 mins.
Store owner said he had to do it that way. Couldn't trust me when I said, I wasn't an undercover tax man.

If just a sales tax issue, I understand completely. TX gave me credit for the AZ sales tax paid when we took delivery in AZ. I (probably mistakenly) thought poster was saying they had to register their new coach in CA unless delivered outside of state.
