Going to buy a "89" fleetwood Bounder. Excellent Cond. Always Garaged. 35,000 miles. Everthing works. Can you all tell of any problems I might have, and is $13,500 to much? New to boards and they are very interesting. Thank you for any reply.

Gallion, welcome to irv2
Sounds like something good but need to know what chassis Ford, John Deer or Chev engine & chassis. 89 could be the early year for the Bounder had lots of room but maybe could overload chassis. If you can give more info we will be able to help you more.

Welcome aboard. As noted above, you will need to weigh the coach and see that you do not overload.

Also, Fleetwood coaches of the vintage with fiberglass sides were prone to delamination. Is yours the aluminum siding or the fiberglass?

Gallion, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I would suggest that you have a technician lok it over for you to be sure it is all in working order and that it may or may not need tires depending on their age. Good luck and enjoy!

It must be an 88 Bounder and not an 89. We waited until the '89 model came out because that is the first year they went to the smooth-sided fiberglass and not the rough sided aluminum
If it is smooth sided then it is a 1989 model year and fiberglass siding. If it is rough sided aluminum-it is a 1988 model
BTW - we loved out 89!

Sounds good Jim the couple of things I can think right off hand are the tires and the DATE of MFG its stamped on side walls of tires.
During that period the Ford 460's had many manifold problems and they were solved by putting on a Banks sys with headers, the Chev's may have had the same problems I'm sure someone will chime in.
You did not say what axel limits were, the sticker near drivers seat on wall should have these, I bring it up because the Bounder was something new at the time with storage as a selling point and to use all that storage you need to know chassis limitations.
The extra options add weight and takes away from your total to what you can carry yourself.
For example you would't carry 100 gal of water thats over 800 lb's of weight.
The headers do not have to be Banks there were other MFG's.
With the coach under cover thats a plus but be aware the seals and sealents around roof and seams at corners and front and rear caps should be checked.
You have to realize you have a truck chassis and a mobile house on wheels going down the road and as long as everything is maintained you have a go.
I would give it a go just keep in mind what everyone has said.
Good luck in your hunt.
