99 Holiday Rambler Endevor starting issue

This is going to sound nuts but I purchased this 99 Diesel Pusher Not running they put new batterys in it and the key wont turn starter they also changed fuel filter and messed up cap I replaced that and can jump out starter and it runs great But there is no dash power the transmission wont shift does not light up the pannel and it shows no rpm. The big issue it is 285 miles from my home I have been there 2 times and have not figured it out they were supposed to have it to a shop for repair but that fell through so they dropped price and here I am trying to #1 Get it Home #2 fix it where it sits #3 find a portable service to do it. I feel like a dummy because I did not think that when the batterys were changed they put a Positive wire on a Ground so the transmission computer has no power or the main computer etc.... I asked her to send me pic of the battery cables and they are all Red she say that her neighbor changed the battery's and he could not have done that wrong because he a Degree Engineer right I had them work for me for years and guess what???? So if anyone has a answer PLEASE PLEASE let me know I am looking at going there and staying until it can be driven home I don't know what it would cost for tow but?
