A&E awning cam lock problem
The cam lock on our A&E awning seems to be jammed and not able to move into the retract position. Wondering if anyone has experienced this problem?

Is your roller under tension. That is, if you can manually turn the awnings roller as if to roll out some more, then maybe you can move the cam lever.

We used ours for the first time this summer, I had to get up on a ladder and tap it with a hammer lightly to unfreeze it. I guess they need lubed.

Sometimes they get jamed when litting it roll ur to quick. Or when they get a strong wind..( we fought with a Montana wind, We won) We just got back from a trip , , Ours had stripped the little gear, It is an 18 foot awning. Much to big for that small gear. However ; I took the numbers off the Awning And bought the spring assy. for around $50.00 dollers. and installed it. Myself (I'm 73 years old), It is an easy job with a lot of common scents Involved. (there are good Instructions with the assy.) It had to be wound 12 turns, Now that is exiting when you are standing on a step ladder. It's done.Life is good

Be sure, you know what you are doing, otherwise have the dealer/factory look at it.
In the 80's, with my first travel trailer, I lost my entire awning while driving 55 on the interstate.
Apparently incorrectly installed.

my a&e would not retract last week, the pin that holds the roller shaft to the arm assy had worked out ,allowing the shaft to move in th e arm.I rolled up the awning by hand, secured it with straps. Since the roller spring was still under tension used a service dealer to replace the 0ne inch pin . Rich
