Anaheim. Disneyland. I think there are RV parks there that have a shuttle service to take you. Just an Idea and only an hour or so from you. So the kids get into it more--assign each child a specific job to perform. 1. hook up sewer hose, 2. hook up electric. 3. chairs taken out of storage. 4 put leashes on any animal needing to go outside and anything else you can think of to get them involved. You already know who has to oversee all this.

Here's another link to help you plan your travels. Select a state then the city. there is a park in long beach next to the queen mary that could be fun for the kids and the adult.

Tom Papa - I think it's great that you are doing this for yourself and the kids! I agree wholeheartedly about camping in the driveway if you have room - (and a 30-amp (or whatever amp you need) electrical connection). We set up our Camp, awning out, everything., and I have even made a firepit for evenings to have friends over and s'mores. And the kids can have sleepover's in it too which even funner for them! We went out just for a weekend at first, and also took it on day trips - having a fridge and bathroom is fantastic! If you rent one with an outside shower, it's great for going to the beach! ENJOY! We also search for campgrounds via the internet, and they have the big books of campgrounds that we use.

Hi Purplefans & Harvey, I wish I had the option of a drive way camping. Trust me I would not hesitate to try it, it is just not possible. The two camgrounds I found would Campland On The Bay or Mission Bay RV Park both in the San Diego area. I was shy from a ocean front but I guess after two days of googling that is the best I would have come up with. Also I found Cruise America RV rental have some good selection for RV rental. Still need to research more if a local dealer would be more reasonable in price.

We are on the atlantic side, so can't offer you any information on places, unfortunately. Best of luck!
