I was a member with IRV2 many years ago when they 1st went on line. I had a Gulfstream 5th wheel then. Because of my work, I was out of town most of the time so I ended up selling it after about 2 years, since I wasn't using it. My wife and I retired last year and we decided to buy a motorhome and travel throughout the USA. We live in Pompano Beach, FL. and will be travelling to Santa Barbara, CA. in November to visit our youngest daughter. We have a 40' Fleetwood Discovery and will be towing a Buick Enclave. I plan on going I-10 all the way. If anyone has any tips on traveling there or places to stay overnight, we are all ears. It's great to be back on line with IRV2.

Welcome back to the Forum. Your I-10 plan sounds like a good to me. As far as places to stay, when on the road we like to overnite at the Flying J's till we reach our destination and others use WalMart. If you have a need for a campground you can download trailerlifedirectory.com and search the states along your route. It has really been a helpful site to us. Good Luck on your trip be safe and Happy Motoring!!

Welcome back! We just spent a week over Labor Day in the Santa Barbara area. One of our favorite places anywhere!
We've made the long run along I10 a few times and I'll just throw in a plug for Fort Stockton . It's located in a place where it's really common to need an overnight stop since it's a million miles to the next town in either direction. Certainly not a fancy park but IMO the best in the area with easy pull thrus and a mom and pop cafe on site to feed you and keep you entertained at both dinner and breakfast.
Remember there's an agricultural check on your way into California so you probably don't want the coach loaded with fruits and veggies. I've got a couple of spots to recommend if you'll need them around Phoenix, north of Santa Barbara, or the LA area.
Be safe...
Rick

Depends on how close you want to be to Santa Barbara----but Flying Flags in Buellton is a nice place, good for pets, great if you have G-kids to visit you.
