Another New Member from the West Coast!

I am feeling very ignorant and unsure how to use this site. I am literally at sea
(sitting here on our boat at Catalina Is. in So. Calif) and this is familiar and comfortable. But, I am figuratively lost at sea in this new activity of RVing.
My wife, Sandra and I have just purchased an older Fleetwood Pace Arrow class A
Cummins 8.3 diesel pusher 1994 36' motorhome. We have been living on our boat
here in Calif. for the past five years, and think that it will be fun to do a bit of travel and spend some time at various locations.
However, it has just occured to us that we don't have a clue how to proceed. We
are considering a nine day round trip from Los Amgeles to Boise ID in October.
Is it usual to plan ahead each leg of a trip and make reservations for overnight
stays at rv sites? Will someone please help with suggestions, or tell me where
to get advice? Thank you Best, Ed & Sandra Stringer

1stringer....
Welcome to the forum!! You deserve your own thread for others to answer to!

You have asked a few questions that you will get many different answers for. Some of these you will have to decide what works best for you.
Me..well..there are many times I leave knowing where I will be on each night. (I am a "list" person) If I have not made a list...then I have at the very least called ahead to make sure a few places we may stop will have an opening. This helps me know if I will have a problem finding a place if I need hook-ups.

You may also find that it is sometimes easier to take shorter trips at first... or at least know you can travel at a comfortable pace for you. (This is not like driving a car!)

You can find information from some of the Mapping programs as far as where campgrounds are ...
this is just a start for you...
Good Luck...and welcome again!!

Ed & Sandra;

Welcome to iRV2. We are glad you found us. MM has given you good advice. When I purchased my first MH (87 Pace Arrow) I took a couple of shorter shake down trips. I found a few small problems and it gave Bev and I an opportunity to feel comfortable in our new surroundings.

Post often and share your travel adventures with us. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Don
