Back in OH after winter excursion

We're Dick & Vicki from Canton, OH. We and our Border Collie/Husky mix "Miss Nikki" just returned from a winter trip; we spent late October through March in AZ, then pulled our rig across I-10 to the Ocala/Silver Springs area of Florida where we spent about three weeks before heading up I-95/I-77 and home. While in the Tucson area, we traded in our '99 Forest River Sierra (31') for an '07 Keystone Cougar 292 RKS (33'). We like the layout in the newer rig really well - we've had a few minor glitches which we've managed to resolve, with the exception of our living room slide quit working the first night out of FL. I plan to check it out in the next day or two and hope it is a minor problem.

We got into the rv life back in 2007, not sure if we would like it or not, and have found that the three of us really enjoy it . Our plans are (Lord willing) to spend next winter in a RV park just south of Gainesville, FL. We love AZ (lived there for five years '04 to '09) but the 2000+ mile drive is really more than we care to do; the just under 1000 mi to FL is much easier. Most of the folks in the rv park we wintered at in AZ said we won't like FL, so we'll have to see!

We are both retired and will be eligible for (gulp!) Medicare this year. We both signed up for SS at age 62 and don't regret the decision one bit. Each day the Lord gives us is a blessing, and we try to live each day to the fullest - hope you do too!

Hi Dick & Vicki. Welcome to iRV2.com

Our home base is in the Ocala National Forest just east of Silver Springs. We've lived there since 1994 and lived in South Florida before that for many years.

Every place has it pros and cons. We like the SW, the NW and we like Florida too. Nice thing about RVing is, you get to enjoy them all!

Hello folks welcome to iRV2. Glad to see another fellow Buckeye.

When you get a chance, check out the North Central & Pond Piggie (local camping group from NE OH & W PA) Forums for campouts. We've got a couple scheduled already. We'd love to have you join us. As the season gets going, you'll see more group campouts posted & I've already posted most of our upcoming season whereabouts. If you're anywhere near where we'll be, feel free to stop by or come join us. One of our group, from North Canton no less, also has a Keystone Cougar 5-r & I'm sure they'd like having a fellow Keystone owner join in.

Safe travels & hope we meet up sometime.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

We stayed at Wilderness RV Park Estates when we were there - we used it as a base to check out other parks in the area. After looking at a lot of other parks, we've decided to spend next winter at Williston Crossings in Williston. We don't like big parks (like Wilderness RV Park) and we aren't particularly fond of parks with grass sites. Williston Crossings is fairly new with about 150 sites and they have cement pads for both your RV and a patio. I guess they are in receivership, but some friends just spent a week + there and it sounds like it will stay in business. We drove East on Rt 40 while we were there and went over to the ocean to drive up A1A a ways - not something you'd see in AZ! Are you in a RV park there in the Ocala area or in a house?
