Back to RV'ing after 35 years!

Hi, my name is Dave. I'm from Phoenix AZ and new to RV’ing, or at least, re-newed to RV’ing. Our family did a lot of camping when I was a kid. I just took a 35 year break. My girlfriend Jamie and I just purchased a new-to-us 2004 Newmar Dutch Star 3810 and we love it. The reason for getting the RV is two-fold. For relaxation, plus I’m a home inspector and insurance adjuster who is in the process of becoming part of a catastrophe team. Meaning, wherever the storm hits I will be sent there. I decided early on, that I would not be able to do motel rooms on a long-term basis.

We are both in our 50s and in the process of getting rid of most of our STUFF and downsizing our home. Looking forward to more free time. We have one trip under our belt and grateful to say everything went extremely well. While preparing the RV I did searches that led me to this site many times, so it seemed like a no brainer to join the site.

You're on the right track!! I recently retired and wife will soon. After spending 3 years sorting out my parent's estate ( 3 generations), I started on ours...getting rid of everything and downsizing. My advice to friends in their 50's...quit collecting stuff, start getting rid of stuff, get your home paid for, eliminate all debt...enjoy your retirement. Seems more and more people these days plan on a future RV lifestyle once retired. Some are lucky enough to do it with their business.
