Been posting for a while, finally checking in

Just wanted to check in officially. My wife and I are retired from IBM, me 6 years ago, her 2. A year and a half ago we bought our first motorhome, a Monaco Montclair Class B+ on a Chevy frame. We were "most timers" last year, including a 3 month trip from North Carolina to Key Largo Florida and then all the way up the east coast to Quebec and back to NC. We were bitten by the RV bug to the extent that in January this year we traded the Montclair for a Thor ACE 29.1, mostly because of the serious lack of external storage space and lack of hill climbing power on the Monaco. In January we handed the keys of the stick & brick to a realtor and set off. The sale closed in April and we are now officially full timers. So far this year we have gone from NC straight across I40 to California, then up the coast (mostly on 1 and 101) to Washington where we are now near Mt Saint Helens. We'll continue north as far as Olympic National Park and then start heading east, with the intention of swinging through NC in September for our annual physicals etc. Then west again to New Mexico where we will be wintering as volunteers at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. We are taking to the fulltime life to the extent that we now "joke in earnest" about calling the PODS warehouse where our stuff is in storage and telling them to drive it over to Goodwill. We blog our adventures at www.dicksonimages.com/blog. And we're very happy to have found Irv2. Lots of very useful advice!

Hi bdickson & welcome. I found myself smiling while reading your post. We're almost there....probably will be part-timers for awhile, but considering the full-time gig. Happy & safe travels.

Hi, welcome to IRV2. We are renting our house in Angier, but will try again next year to sell it. We also took the I40 to CA to visit family and friends along the way, then north to Upstate NY. We absolutely love the RV lifestyle. We had a 50 amp service put in at our daughters house in Zebulon, so we can go back and visit grandchildren. Glad you joined us and hope you continue to have safe travels.
