Boater going RV
Hi Folks,
Yes new to RV world, but a 12 year boater with a 3200SCR Maxum, we have decided it is time to see America by land. we were thinking of trading in the boat, we have seen that C-W in Illinois MAY take our boat in trade. It depends on the state, we checked that Indiana cannot do it unless they have a boat sales licence. Anyone with experience in this?
We just saw a Freedom Elite Class C 29FE that we liked, brand new, yea depreciation will kill us, only 2 of us and 2 cats,we plan on keeping for
for about 10 years. being a boater i know there will always be issues, small or not, you maintain what you have, and things will be fine.

Dump the boat at whatever you can get for it and buy no trade. I'm sure there are some dealers out there that will take your dog or cat in trade, but you'll get nothing for it.

Yes, welcome to IRV2. Great site. Lots of information.
See if you can sell your boat other than trading in at CW. Apples and Oranges.
You will truly enjoy RVing after boating. No more going past the same locations to see new interests and vistas. Enjoy. We switched from a 42ft Catalina sailboat which we owned for seven years after several other sailboats. Our Discovery has logged over 80,000 miles exploring the USA, all of the lower 48 states. Would urge others to follow our travels,
JimB

We sold the boat, boat house and dock space as a package deal, then quit the yacht club. Private sale, but at that time we had a TT, wasn't till later when we got a MH.

We have both rv and boat...fun combo. Don't buy the Freedom Elite or anything else made by Thor or Forest River. If you're curious you can do searches on this site or anywhere else and see why. In no particular order I would recommend the following for Class C's:
Fleetwood
Winnebago
We had 2 Fleetwoods and they were both good- we now have a Winnie Class A...also good.

I did the boat thing and realized it's a good thing coming over to the land side, as you'll be familiar with 12 volt and making small repairs and routine maintenance. Good luck with the sale and welcome to the dry side!

I took a huge hit selling my sailboat on the Worst Coast. Thank God it was only money. Had her for 20 years. Boat and RV are apples and oranges. I believe you will do better keeping them separate.

looking
okay,
been doing my due diligence. looks like I may have sold boat already, talk about lucky.
question,
when I look at slide outs, sometimes I see scraping marks on the bottom, almost like the floor is not sitting on rollers, is this normal to see scraping marks?
cannot seem to find any units with easy access to the furnace, any ideas?
I have heard Furnace maintenance could be a big issue depending on location. I am quite handy, but do not want to have to take the cabin apart if it needs repair.
I have read everywhere that this is a big issue with Class C MH.
thanks and good info here.
