brand new to this

hi, i just purchased my first TT and have no idea what i'm doing. It's a 78-79 ? Taurus about 16ft and it needs some cleaning up and minor work. I was going to make a car trailer out of it but realized after inspection that its in pretty good shape and was taken good care of.. I looked around in the forums and have gotten everything working exept the fridge..Just got it last week and i'm hooked.. ready to go camping........... only problem is, i have no idea how to maintain it or hook it up or anything.... would really appreciate if anybody could steer me to a site or forum on the basics so i can start planning my first camp thanx

What kind of rig do you have to tow it with?

Welcome. Biggest killer of old RV's is water leaks. First thing I would do is inspect everything inside and out for signs of water intrusion. Then start sealing every joint on the trailer.

hoping to tow w/ my 68 chevy p'up till i can get the 65 panel wagon stopping better....gonna stay close to home for awhile.. haven't even had the back yard camp yet..not on purpose...
and.. yes about the roof, rained really hard for a few days. i found some moisture in lft rear inside the bathroom cabinet... no soft spots or rot. i pulled the paneling down.... been outta work for 2 months,, any ideas on an inexpensive fix? plan on putting on rubber next summer, just need to keep it dry till then... it was cold sealed with that silver stuff by PO seems to be keeping everything else dry... i dont like it but have limited funds.. might slop some more up to avoid water damage
thanks for the replys ... love having a place to ask dumb questions

Good luck on your rebuild. Make sure that you have no propane leaks, use a water and soap mixture to check all connections. Use a spray bottle and watch for air bubbles, if seen turn off the gas and fix the connection. Good luck

Howdy and welcome aboard. Good luck with the rebuild. I'm sure if you get stuck with something you can always post questions here and get your answers.
