Welcome fellow colony settlers.

We just made a 4 month trip from Texas to the West Coast. Fortunately we were able to stay at Military FAM Camps, but we did visit many of the parks mentioned, plus the Redwood, Custer, Badlands - can't remember them all, must be old age or something.

Anyhow, to miss any of them is, well, a miss. What is spectacular to the eye of a beholder may not as such to someone else. Besides the National Parks, there are many state parks that are just as memorable. Take for example, Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Amarillo, TX.

DW and I have come to the agreement that we could spend 30 days in each state and not see all the wonderful things to see in the state we are in.

but regarding the national parks - it's not which are 'missable' - every one I've visited has been awe inspiriing - that's why they are national parks ! so don;t miss a one if you pass by it

We just got back from Hawaii and while stunning, I can honestly say some of the parks here had a more memorable effect....

Now, visiting at the right time of year makes them more enjoyable, because of the seasons, but enjoy them all !

Hi, You folks on this forum really make us feel welcome, we thank you. And once I realised what DFW meant I would love to take you up on your offer to 'touch base' if we are in that area of Texas.

Welcome! We had 2 kids in the UK and loved our neighbors. Lived in a little village called Ramsey and loved it there. There is so much to see here...........looks like you have a huge list going now.

Have lots of fun and enjoy every minute of your travels.

Thanks for this, now next March just can't come soon enough. And that Palo Duro Canyon recommendation which we have not heard of before, is why I really appreciate the feed back from all you guys.

Hi, I wonder if the Ramsey where you once lived is the Ramsey in the Cambridge area of the Uk. If so my wife's good friend once lived there and I remember staying with her for a weekend and having a 'pint' or two in the local pub. Also my aunt lives in Hemingford Grey.
As you say the list of 'must sees' is getting so big we might just have to venture on another big trip in 2014 !!!!

It is the same! Our landlord owned one of the local pubs and we loved it there.

When my dad came to visit after our first was born he went into the bakery there and they taught him how to make sausage rolls and he taught them how to make cinnamon rolls. LOL We have great memories!

Welcome to the irv2 forum, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite are just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many things to see in this great country that its hard to name just a few.
