CC Inspire Engine/transmission choice?

We are joining with 5 years of RV travel with a 2001 Safari Zanzibar. We are looking at a "new" 2008 CC Inspire and have become bogged down with a choice between the Cat C9 with the new CX28 transmission OR Cummins ISL 425 with the Allison MH3000. I have driven both, and could not hear or feel any appreciable difference. We have driven our Cat 3126 330hp with the MH3000 for 50k miles and have had one minor engine problem that cost $500 to fix. We have learned from a salesman that the CX28 transmission has had "clutch" problems, but Cat Tech Support will not acknowledge "any problems."

Any knowledge or wisdom in the community?

Thanks.

Welcome to IRV2, Hiker John.

I haven't seen any feedback on the new Cat transmission, but any new product makes you a guinea pig of sorts. The Allison is so reliable and also so easy to get serviced nationwide that I would go with that unless there was some other reason to want the Cat configuration. On the other hand, if I liked the coach with the Cat engine/tranny better for some reason, I wouldn't let it scare me off either.

Thank you for the comments on the engine/transmission choice on a "new" 2008 Country Coach Inspire Founder's Edition. We decided to proceed on the Cummins/Allison combo with everything else being equal.

Now we need to get through the pre-delivery inspection!

Wish us luck.
