CO and Propane detectors
I have found out that a plug in, battery back up CO and Propane detector brought from a home improvement store is actually a better investment than replacing the rv manufactured installed detectors. Our factory installed detector was older than actual rv build. Also, beware of Amazon cheaper listings. Age and price is a ploy to get them off their shelves.

I prefer to have my propane detector near the floor and my CO detector higher up on the wall or ceiling. https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quali...oxide-detector

Be aware many of those Home Depot / Lowes, detectors are not rv certified

Propane is heavier than air, and the detector is mounted right above the floor for a reason. In still air it will accumulate at floor level and might even reach an explosive concentration before you ever even smelled it at 4-6 feet above the floor. It's also 12 volt powered for a reason, so you are protected whenever your RV is not in storage.
Carbon Monoxide is slightly lighter than air so those detectors will trigger sooner if they are mounted well above the floor.
So there's a benefit to having separate CO and Propane detectors.

There may be some limited truth to this, however CO is very very slightly lighter than air, so little than even minimal convective heat currents in an RV will blend it evenly with the rest of the air On the other hand Propane is MUCH heavier than air and will sink to near floor level in most conditions.
