Dipping our toes in
We kicked around buying an RV for a number of years, and finally decided to give it a shot now that we've retired. Starting with a 10-year old 29' Copper Canyon 5th wheel. I'm sure it will be a learning experience. Aiming to stay mostly in state and national parks around western US.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig. The learning curve is long (like forever) but the good news is that it is only steep in the beginning. Lots of good folks with good info here to help you along. Enjoy the adventure.

weighing time
Well, I took the rig to the CAT scale today. A worthwhile experience. Not tooo bad on weights, but something I will watch. We had a fair bit of extra tools along, and more water than I would normally carry, but less food/clothes/stuff and 12 gal less than a full tank of gas.
Truck is a 2007 Nissan Titan 2WD King Cab with tow package. Trailer is 2007 Keystone Sprinter 252FWRLS. When I replaced tires on the truck I went to Michelin LR E from the soft P-series OEM tires, but haven't done much else beyond adding the hitch and brake controller. I think I'll want to add air bags to the truck for better ride control.
The scale put us at 2900 for front axle, 3900 for rear, and 6400 for trailer axles. That's 100 over the RAWR, but 400 under GVWR and 1900 under GCWR.
It should be a bit lighter in travel mode (1/4 tank fresh, empty grey/black). I'm also planning to swap out the three somewhat random 12v batteries for 2 GC2s. I'll weigh it again with that done and before we take it on any extended trip. Hopefully I can get down to within spec for rear axle weight. It would be nice to have more margin, but I already had the truck (and it pulls the load quite well).
