We would like to do a cross country or Alaska trip once every couple years and multiple shorter trips in between. We have our eye on the Winnebago Forza 38W so there is sleeping accommodations for a guest or two.
I would love to hear any opinions on Winnebago quality and customer service as well as extended warranty recommendations. We are still a year or two from purchase. However, as you all know this is a major commitment and I want to make sure I get it right the first time.

"...this is a major commitment and I want to make sure I get it right the first time." A bit "YEP" on the commitment part.
But the idea of "...get it right the first time" is a bit tough.
When we bought our 1st Class A, we looked for our last coach, first. The idea was to buy more than we needed and grow into it! As you're doing, we researched everything on the market - new and used. We finally decided on a Winnebago Adventurer 38' back in 1999. Yep, we bought new in 1999 and kept using it for the next 18 years. Very few do this. But we didn't want to keep "upgrading" and spending the considerable dollars to required to trade coaches every few years.
Winnebago - in the past - had build a very solid line of coaches. We are extremely please with what we bought and the longevity ownership. But I can't speak to the current quality. I'll let other current and past owner of newer coaches comment on that.
One key item I will say, budget permitting, buy a bit more that you think you will need. Believe me,
these things shrink in time and usage.
