Hi everyone, we're still on a fact finding mission and getting a lot of interesting info. Really enjoying reading the discussions on the forums, lots of good stuff.
We'll be visiting a RV dealer next week in Pa. The gentleman I spoke with encouraged us to consider diesel as we try to decide the best way to go and make an informed decision.
In a previous discussion with another dealer said gas is the best way to go. Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! As for whether gas or a diesel pusher is better, it is a completely personal decision to make. We have had both. Here are the major differences in my opinion. On the gas side, fuel is less than diesel by a pretty large margin, maintenance is much cheaper than a diesel pusher, insurance is cheaper, cost to purchase was MUCH less. On the diesel side, upgrade in the inside quality of cabinets, etc, engine is in rear so it is quieter and cooler up front, hydraulic and electric slides, washer and dryer and some upgrades in toys that aren't really necessary. That said, we had just as much fun in our gasser as we have in our diesel pusher. The gas coaches of today are much prettier and more functional that ours was (2004) and really have all the bells and whistles. So it all depends on what you will do with it, how much you will travel and what your budget is.

Diesels tend to have heavier chasis and so more carrying capacity---we have a gaser and are happy with our choice considering all the factors described by Melmoses---although quite solvable (I can read) I'm a little mystified by diesels. I do feel that (if) my gas rig has a problem I feel more qualified to kind of know how to solve it----even though I am not a mechanic, I like a lot of have been snooping around gas powered vehicles all my life----

Additional cost and the fact that we knew we were not going to be putting 20K miles per year sprinting accross the country every year in our coach helped us make our choice for gas. The majority of our motor home friends have diesels---I don't know whether they are well healed or smarter---We have as many amenities, less room and less carrying capacity----our engine purrs upfront theirs rattles behind.

Welcome to the forem. This is a topic with a lot of different opinions. I would suggest finding a floor plan that suits your life style, then choose a chassis that suits your wallet. As far a DP yes they are more to buy and more to maintain without a question. Not all diesel chassis are alike Engine brand,Hp,chassis manufacturer. I would test drive both and fell the difference and even test drive different DP's.
