dudley do-right
This will be a brief bio;
My wife and I had been live-aboard sailor/cruisers for 15 yrs.when we first came to Mandeville in 1997. We decided to swallow the anchor here, and bought a house. We sold our boat about two yrs. ago, having owned her for over two decades. In looking foreward to retirement, we bought a reallyreally nice 2007 Western Alpine 36 that we found in Arizona. The reason I've joined this forum, or what ever you call it, is that I was looking for some insight into what is causing a problem with my power awning. I consider myself to be quite capable, and I have been self-employed as a handyman here for the last 15 years or so. It drives me nuts when I can't fix something!
We've been doing short hops with the RV, and are going to be "live-aboards" again when my wife decides to hang it up, in the near future. We are members of the FMCA, and the Alpine Coach Assn.

You will love it here. Being a handyman you must share your info with us. It drives me crazy when someone comes onboard and asks for help and then never follows up with how it worked out for them. I can't help with your awning problem as I have an older coach with WAY less modern stuff. I love it, less stuff to repair

Describe problem with power awning? (Also it's make and model which can often be found on the roller tube when it is extended)
A&E Weather pro..At least the older ones.. Have a toggle switch on the side of the controller device (not the remote but a big black box often inside a cupboard) Toggeling it will DISABLE the wind and possibly ignition sensors..THIS may help.
POST make,model, and if that worked..Carefree I can not assist with.

Yeah, it's a weather pro, 7 yrs. old, so reasonably modern; have looked at specs provided, which tell you nothing except see your Dometic dealer. There is a wind sensor, which has worked before, so there must be a control box somewhere, but I'm damned if I can find it, and I've torn into every likely spot I can think of. I know it has power, because it will try to retract when I push that button, but nothing when I try to open it. Those toggles are mounted remotely, by the way.

Don't know if this helps but the box with the toggle switch on mine is in the forward passenger side basement storage compartment. The box is easy to see but the toggle switch is on the far side and not easy to see.
