Dusty Mojave is HERE!
Howdy.
I was seeking help a couple of days ago. Our Jayco tent trailer voltage converter was not working. No lights or other functions off a fresh battery. But on shore power things worked. In searching for info about the system, I ran across the forums here. I liked what I found and today decided to join up.
I'm 60 years old and married 34 years. I recently retired from self-employment as a race car fabricator. My wife retired at the same time after 40 years as a nurse for Kaiser. Our 22 year old son builds RVs in the Lance RV factory.
Ohh...
It turned out that the Battery/off/Converter switch was dusty inside and needed to be blown out with air. It worked fine after that. I think that's the trouble with the refrigerator as well. I suppose trouble with dust getting in things is a trade-off a desert dweller has to deal with in exchange for not having to deal with rust.

Welcome, maybe it had something to do with all those dust storms last week. Haven't seen it that bad in a long time.

Ha! Yep. It was quite windy and dusty here. Funny that when the LA basin gets strong Santa Ana winds, generally, it's calm up here on the high desert. Last week, the wind was blowing here from the Bakersfield direction towards the Cajon pass.
But actually, the problem existed before that wind. But I had to hold off working on a tent trailer while the wind was strong. It DID leave the latch for the outside access door for the fridge jammed with sand and dust. Once I finally got it open, I had to take the latch apart and clean it out, then re-assemble. There was over a 1/4" of sand and dust in the compartment. Open louvers let in lots of sand and dust.
