These are cheap, made in China tires. We call them
"China bombs" as they tend to blow out.
Get Goodyear, Michelin or another quality name brand.

I have also heard tell (and do have several) Toyo tires that are quite good.

fairhall,

Welcome to IRV2!!

I personally will not trust the cheap import (Chinese) tires. I like to spend a little more on my families safety and go with decent/great rated tires.

I'm sure others will defend the cheap tires and you might have a wonderful experience with them, however that's the only thing between my family and the highway when traveling at 60MPH (plus sometimes ).

Not saying you cannot have problems with better names, I'm saying you will be less likely to have problems with better tires.

It's just worth a few bucks more to me.

Good luck!!

Welcome to IRV2. Grand Canyon yeehaw! Are you going to eventually hit Zion, Bryce Canyon (a favourite of someone here for some reason), etc? That aerodynamic front on your home is the pinnacle of clean windshield (Aquapel that baby and the rain will whisk off with that rake).

The only thing touching the road is your tire. You may not need the best tire (lets face it this isn't a M3). But you don't want the cheapest tires either. A dump truck for example can use used tires, and those "made in China non-name brand tires. When a tire blows on a dump the undercarriage can handle it much better then a RV. If you get a blow out you'll soon see that you'll be spending the difference between the cheap tire and a quality tire (and most likely more). Store brand food products generally won't harm you, a cheap tire can. Best case scenario you bring your home to a safe halt, now what if you're not quite compared (no safe-t-steer/tru-center to "help" keep it straight) and there's a flock of bumper to bumper traffic in the passing lane and a gas tanker to your right... We don't want to see any IRV stop posting per-maturely.

Welcome to the forum and glad you joined us. Good luck with your tire purchase. There are plenty of brands out there and you'll get plenty of input here regarding them. Hope all works out and you enjoy your time at the Grand Canyon. Great place but be patient if you're going in June. There will be plenty of people there at that time. Have Fun.

Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang here!

I personally prefer Michelin tires, but that's JMHO! Enjoy the forum!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Smile elevatorman

I tried to respond yesterday, but I guess I was not logged on. We are overwhelmed with the response to our tire guestion. I have come to a decision, it will be michelin. That was the original tire and lasted 20 years. Hope I posted this properly. and thanks again for all your help.n
