At the reccomendation of our Jayco dealer we recently replaced the eternabond strip on the front of our 13' slide. Following their advice we used goo-gone to remove the old adhesive. Now we have major problems with bubbling under the new eternabond. Research has revealed that the goo-gone contains petroleum distillates and is causing the rubber roof under the new eternabond to seperate from the plywood. Any suggestions on how to repair or correct this situation.

On a youtube video I saw them remove enernabond with a heat gun.. Thats what I would do then buy some eterna-primer, in a spray can, to treat the area before replacing the eternabond tape. Check out youtube, lots of stupid stuff but lots of info on repairing Rv's

My suggestion would be to take it back to the dealer who told you what to do to repair it in the first place. Sounds like they created a little nightmare in the process. By the way welcome to the forum and can only hope you enjoy your time here. Sorry that it sounds like you were given some wrong information and they at least step up to the plate and repair it. Here is where you went wrong. Use goo gone to remove the goo. You must then clean the surface with acetone.

Yep, bad info from the dealer re: Goo Gone!

You'll probably have to remove the membrane and replace it first. Even then the Goo Gone may have soaked into the wood underneath and need replacing too.

Not good at all.

Doubt you can get the dealer to fix it even though they gave you the wrong info. Might as well try though!
