First RV Ever, What have we done.....

As Goodtimes said I would get the tires then the dish.As far as the dish goes I have Direct TV works great when there aren't any trees in the way.I had a extra receiver and use it in the MH,pay 5 dollars a month to have it there and when winter comes and I put the MH in storage I just cancel it till spring.If I park and it don't come in or no channels are available I just push the reset button , it resets and bingo TV.Jim

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. The life style is just that a lifestyle choice. There is so much to see in the great country of ours and seeing it upfront and close from your Rv is just priceless.

Don't know if you already installed the satellite, but one of our big regrets (and newbie lesson learned) when we got our RV was installing a hard-mounted roof dish. Because of our dog we end up camping in a lot of public campgrounds with trees (especially in summer where shade is a priority) so half the time we can't get reception. we really wish we'd gotten a movable dish in retrospect. May not be an issue you camp, but this is something we would change if we ever got a new rig.

- remove frame from back TV so you can see the whole thing
- fix power on front TV
- park her in the back so she can get vacation loaded ( only 4 days till we head out.) May have to remove 2 foot of fence to do it

She fit in just fine. Had about 2 inches from each mirror

Question - how can I find out If I have an inverter, and where it is located??

We are in the process of making modifications for our 2 GSDs travel crates. Not sure what we would do with 2 more big dogs. LOL WELCOME!!!!

We are a big family for sure...... as we will be using our rig to go to Schutzhund events to compete, I will make one of the compartments a "dog crate" just for trial days when we are at the field

Welcome and congrats on the motohome....
If you have cracks in your tires they probably need to be replaced. Check the DOT code on the tires and that will thell you how old they are. The DOT code is usually 4 numbers, ie (1609) would be the 16 week of 2009. first two numbers are the week, second two are the year they where manufactured. Normal tire replacement runs any where from 4-6 years. The cracks are signs of dry rot, exposer to the sun and should be replaced ASAP. Some owners say as long as they hold air they're good but do not take the chance. A blow out on a motorhome is nothing like a blow out on a car, lots more weight to pull you off the road. Be careful, enjoy your RV. ask questions here and someone will chin in. Lots of experts here. so just ask. We where all rookie RVers at one time. It gets better as you go and learn the little quirks of your RV.

You should be able to use a ground mount. portable dish with with your setup. On ours we have an external entertainment roughed in. I can backfeed a satellite signal in through the antenna connection to the receiver. I do have to change one RG-6 jumper though.

I don't know why this old wives tale keeps getting repeated but even the tire manufacturers don't say to replace tires that often. Michelin says that the tires need to be inspected starting at the fifth year and absolutely replaced at 10.
I went 8½ years on ours and the fronts were run overloaded for 99% of their life. The only time they weren't overloaded was when it was driven from Nappanee to WA by the delivery driver.

Service Life for RV/Motorhome Tires
The following recommendation applies to RV/Motorhome tires. Tires are composed of various types of material and rubber compounds, having performance properties essential to the proper functioning of the tire itself. These component properties evolve over time.
For each tire, this evolution depends upon many factors such as weather, storage conditions, and conditions of use (load, speed, inflation pressure, maintenance, etc.) to which the tire is subjected throughout its life. This service-related evolution varies widely so that accurately predicting the serviceable life of any specific tire in advance is not possible.
That is why, in addition to regular inspections and inflation pressure maintenance by consumers, it is recommended to have RV/Motorhome tires, including spare tires, inspected regularly by a qualified tire specialist, such as a tire dealer, who will assess the tire’s suitability for continued service. Tires that have been in use for 5 years or more should continue to be inspected by a specialist at least annually.
Consumers are strongly encouraged to be aware not only of their tires’ visual condition and inflation pressure, but also of any change in dynamic performance such as increased air loss, noise or vibration, which could be an indication that the tires need to be removed from service to prevent tire failure.
It is impossible to predict when tires should be replaced based on their calendar age alone.
However, the older a tire the greater the chance that it will need to be replaced due to the service-related evolution or other conditions found upon inspection or detected during use.
While most tires will need replacement before they achieve 10 years, it is recommended that any tires in service 10 years or more from the date of manufacture, including spare tires, be replaced with new tires as a simple precaution even if such tires appear serviceable and even if they have not reached the legal wear limit.
For tires that were on an original equipment vehicle (i.e., acquired by the consumer on a new vehicle), follow the vehicle manufacturer’s tire replacement recommendations, when specified (but not to exceed 10 years).
The date when a tire was manufactured is located on the sidewall of each tire. Consumers should locate the Department of Transportation or DOT code on the tire that begins with DOT and ends with the week and year of manufacture. For example, a DOT code ending with “0304” indicates a tire made in the 3rd week (Jan) of 2004.

Well, the day has come. We are pulling out today at 1 Pm for Myrtle Beach.
We packed what we thought we my need, but not everything we could think of. Maybe 10% of the closet/cabinet space is filled up.
I will be fueling up before we leave and then again just before we get there to get a baseline on fuel consumption.
We have the meals kinda planned and the did out little check lists to include one we found on here.

I think if time permits we will bet her weight as well today.
