First time buyer from Ontario Canada
Hello everyone. We just bought our first RV after over a year of exhaustive research. We visited many RV shows including our favourite in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This site is a valuable source of information. Our RV is a slightly used (9,000 kms) 2015 Fleetwood Bounder 35K. We're very excited and also a bit apprehensive about taking it on the road for the first time probably in April when it's a bit warmer. I'm a retired firefighter and I've had lots of experience driving longer and heavier vehicles but driving an RV will be quite different. I've never had to worry about low bridges for example. We've bought an RV GPS and are going to buy the Good Sam Rand McNally RV atlas which will help. We also have CAA(AAA).

Welcome to the RV ranks. You are going to love it. Your best bet is to write down the actual height of your RV and post it on your dash somewhere. A couple of years back I was right where you are now. A little apprehensive. I look back at it now and marvel at how far back those days seem now. The CAA is a good idea for sure. I usually do a shakedown trip every spring. Something not too far in case something goes awry but you have a lot of great experiences to look forward too.

You should find the transition from fire apparatus to RV a piece of cake.

Welcome, glad to meet you!
Please consider leaving the cold at home when you travel, LOL. The next 2 days will be the coldest of the year in Florida. Brrrr!!

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome, reassuring words and great tips. I appreciate that you take time out of your lives to help fellow RV's. Such a great forum. I'm sure I'll have many more questions.

Welcome to this. Great forum. We are members of Family Campers and RVERS and our group sponsors many great campouts in Ontario and all over North America. Check out Family Campers and RVers | Where Strangers Become Friends and Friends Become Family and Home/Welcome
Our first campout is a conservation clean up at Darlington Provincial campground at the end of April. Our first major Ontario campout is the May. Longweekend in Blyth. Our International campout is in Gillette Wyoming in July and we will organize a caravan for the trip out.
If you need anyinfo you can contact us.
