Long time camper, first time motorhomer

First time owner here and I couldn't be more excited! I picked up a 1986 Allegro, it has a 454 on a P30 Chassis. I'm hoping this little beauty lasts. Underbody and engine components rusted like crazy, but engine is strong. So far the rear brakes needed a proportional valve. Next is seal the exterior of the roof, new tires, troubleshoot steering wander, and get the generator started. I'd also plan to reinforce the supports for the fold down bunk, replace the carpet with vinyl, new counter top, and find out if the propane tank and its rusted connections are any good.

Alle007,

WOW, what a beauty! There is a thread called "Vintage RVs". We love seeing people who take on projects like this post their pictures and progress. The great thing is there are a lot of people there who can help with ideas and some great help.

Please go there and post your "Rebuild of 1986 Allegro". Quite a few there who redo these old beauties on a regular basis and they can relate to what you are doing and give some good advice. Man, I hope to see you there.

Congrats, you are going to have a blast! Welcome to the forum.Lynne

That is a sweet rig! I'm restoring/modifying a 1977 Sportscoach, you should come join us in the Vintage RV section. A lot of us have rolling threads covering our restoration and modification projects. Can't wait to see what you have planned for her.
