Hi,
We are going to be picking up our new-to-us RV this Friday or Saturday, and we are equal parts excited, nervous, happy, and anxious. While I'm dreaming of, and putting together a lovely decor and color scheme for her, my hubbs is talking about escape plans in the event of a fire (he says he'll get a ladder for the bedroom, get me out first, then the dogs and then himself!
). So, that's where our heads are. Lol.
Seriously we are getting all our ducks in a row to start traveling in June. He retires on May 31 from a teaching and coaching career. Coach has waited his entire life (as a Houston native) for the Astros to win a World Series championship. Last year it happened, and we got to see one of the playoff games as we are huge Astros fans, but with tons of respect for the teams we played. Wow, what a year!
I retired in 2016 from 20 years in the Insurance industry (workers' compensation claims).
We have two wonderful pups that we rescued from the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue Organization. Radley was adopted 5 years ago, and he is our gentle giant. Betsy is our feisty little Ridgeback/Dachsund blend (huh????) and was our foster fail, we adopted her last year. I like to say that Radley is our Morgan Freeman and Betsy is our Miley Rae Cyrus.
It sums them up nicely.
We have four grown sons, one here about a mile away, he has a precious wife and daughter (Addi, two years old, don't even get me started, she is the light of our lives). We have two more sons out in Austin, Texas who are musicians and not married yet. Then our oldest lives up in Seattle. He has a lovely wife and our two grandsons, Grady and Ace. We survived raising four boys, and all of them are just amazing human beings and such blessings to us.
Anyway, thank you to those who have already so kindly reached out to us! We can use all the advice and information our brains can hold right now. We may have to delete a few files to store it, at this age, but that's okay too.
We have spent at least six months you-tubing, reading, researching, and looking at RVTrader until we are cross-eyed. Thankfully we live in the Houston, Texas area so we were able to walk into a ton of RV's before finding our gorgeous girl. Can't wait to get her out for a few short weekend trips to learn the ropes before heading off to Seattle to stay for a few weeks! We hope to head over to Syracuse (we did an amazing two year stint there in 2010-2011, my company moved us there and back, oh how we cherish those two years and all the sites we got to see!!!).
Well that's me for now. Thanks again for the warm welcome and I am so proud and happy to join you all on this amazing journey.
