From NJ - RV curious - Comparing Class A's

Hi all -
So glad to have found this site. I started out Googling "motor home reviews" and happily landed here.

My wife and I have been creeping up on retirement (Jan 2017) and our planned full time RV life. We're still shopping for our first RV and narrowed our preference to a Class A, diesel pusher, about 37ft. We've been to a few RV shows and plan to hit the show in Hershey this Sept. but honestly - we're 12 months from actually buying. Over the years we rented class C and class A (FR-3) for weekends. We're basically newbies with huge curiosity quotients.

For awhile now we have been thinking that Newmar makes the best rig for our budget (Ventana / Ventana LE) and preferences. But to be fair we're still considering Tiffin (36ft RED) and now Entegra Aspire. Are there any owners out there who might have survived a similar comparison? We'd love to learn from folks who've been around the block a few times with any of these models.

Thanks
Josh & Sandie

Josh & Sandi,
Might post your "below" budget and find the particular forums or owners websites of units you're looking at.

New units will have issues. Be prepared for that. They're not cars.

And used units depreciate pretty fast. That's either good if you're buying or bad if your selling... But if you wanted to go "up" to something that you couldn't afford new, it's an option...

Welcome.

Give some thought to buying used, as there are many good clean units available at a good price.

Hi - Thanks for the tip but it seems counter-intuitive. I would expect that USED units have issues and NEW units depreciate pretty fast.

Thanks for the tip. We certainly are considering used. We also thought that Florida would be one of the best places to find late-model used units. Any advice on that front?

Hi All -
So we went to the RV Show in Hershey and did some very detailed comparison shopping and decided to take the plunge on a new Newmar Ventana 3709! Yeah - that's a plunge into the deep end for sure. We'll take delivery in the Feb-March 2016 time frame. In the meantime we're also looking to replace our 2 cars with one sturdy Toad, possibly taking some diesel mechanic & driving lessons, deciding on extended warrantees (or not), picking out tow bar & braking systems - and generally getting ideas on what's important from reading this forum. We're excited!! See you "out there".
