Future RVer

I am currently a middle school principal in north Florida, over 60, and looking at retirement in the next couple of years (depending on the economy). My plan is to fulltime and workamp. I want to workamp because I want to stay active, and see the country at the same time. My wife passed away a few years ago so I will be doing this solo. I have never been west of the Mississippi River, although I have travelled all over the eastern US, including backpacking about 60% of the Appalachian Trail (in segments), so I plan on spending most of my time out West. I am trying to learn as much as I can about RVing before making the jump so this forum is very helpful. I am also a member of workamper.com and frequent those forums regularly. Thanks in advance to all of you experienced RVers for your help and advice.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you joined us. Sounds like you are getting a plan together and traveling and exploring the West is a great idea. You may want to decide to post over in the "Solo RVers" section the the forum as well. There are plenty of people there that could help with some of the questions you may have. Hope all turns out great, be safe and Happy Motoring!!!!

Welcome to the forum. Before we purchased our RV we rented first to see if we liked the lifestyle and to check out floor plans and quality of different motorhomes. Take your time shopping. You will love the West. Boy is it vast. Plenty to see. Also look into "Teacher Ranger" programs at some of the National Parks. Some offer housing and a small stipend. May be a way to get your feet wet.
