Got one at last :)

I grew up camping and RVing (first a trailer, then a class C) in the 1970s, but had never owned a motorhome of my own.

A couple years ago, after my mom passed on, we combined households with my dad, and this past summer decided to rent a class C and take a motorhome trip. My parents took me so many places (I've been to most of the country, almost all by road), and it was nice to take my dad back to some of the places we'd been in the southwest.

Well, we liked it so much (at least my dad and I and my kids; my wife's, uhh, less of a road tripper lol) that we started plotting to get one. It took a few months to convince my wife, during which we kept doing lots of research and finally settled on the Bounder 35H as the best platform for us (3 daughters makes that 1.5 bath design a real win for me lol). We went for a class A because the one thing I didn't like was driving the E450-based class C. It was a case of "In Soviet Russia, motorhome drive you!" the way it was so loosey-goosey on the road, and the seating position just killed my back. After sitting in a few class A motorhomes at an RV show, I knew it was the way to go.

Last week, I bought one out of El Monte's rental stock and it's now sitting in my driveway (I live in the city, but have a really big driveway), while we plan our first short trip (it's southern California).

Thanks, all! The 35E was the second place candidate on my shortlist, but having a full bath in the back really won out. I did look at one (a 2004) and considered buying it, but I would have needed to do a lot more to it to make it what I need, whereas the one I got is basically ready to use and I can make small customizations as I go.
