Greetings from East Tennessee

Hello. I'm seeking a friendly and knowledgeable RV Forum that will fulfill my hunger for information.

My Wife and I spent some of our early years together van camping and in the mid 70s bought a like new VW Campmobile. We were both young, teaching, and had summers off. We lived in SW Idaho at the time and had the opportunity to travel the Intermountain region, the Pacific NW, and Canadian Rockies. An idyllic life to be sure before settling down to careers and family.

We have kept the wanderlust alive. It won't be long and we will be able to pick up where we left off three decades ago.

We are thinking Itasca Navion or Winnebago View V layout at this point....
But we are looking forward to a year of research and shopping.

Riviera top. External engine oil cooler.

Wherever we go to make room for our Small Inflatable Boat, (SIB).

Greetings, hope you find this site as useful as I have. Just remember, the hunt is where most of the fun is. Afterwards is where the next phase comes in and it can either be fun or a real pain depending on who you are dealing with, just remember salespeople are after only one thing--your signature.

Welcome to the irv2 gang! You came to the right place to gather information. Folks here helped us a lot with our search for the best wheels for us. BTW, we were really impressed with the Navion on the Sprint chassis and diesel engine. We ended up buying a class A for other reasons, but still remain positive about what we saw in the Navion. Good luck with your search.

Welcome and glad to meet you!

I have friends with a View. They like it a lot, but state that if they were FT they would need more space. Their View is 27 feet. Good luck with your search!

Welcome from the Secret State of Tennessee. Or, the State of Franklin as some once
called East Tennessee.

You're in an area of immense beauty, and a great place to camp with the Smokey Mountains in your backyard. Sorry it's taken you so long to be back into camping.

We do travel a fair amount and enjoy places like Vancouver Island, Jackson, WY, Canmore, AL, Northern, MI, it's just that we rent houses. We have a nice tritoon in a slip 5 minutes from our house with nice boating on Tellico Lake, a TVA Resevoir aka Little TN River.

I have been island camping fairly regularly on Lake Fontana, Smoky Mountain National Park.

Don't weep for me.

I've got a Bennington tritoon boat and a lake house about 400 miles down river from you.

The Tennessee River system is truly a treasure for those living in the area or coming in to camp. It is truly the premier inland cruising river in the U.S. as it's navigable for 650 miles from Paducah to Knoxville. And it gets more beautiful the farther you go east. State parks and TVA camping areas are numerous, and they're of high quality, too.
