Hello, just thought I write a note and say hi to everyone.
I recently took posession of a 2004 Forest River 3100SS.
Been out for a couple of local trips to get used to the beast.
Finding out more each day.
Planning a longer trip to Southern California in a couple of weeks, cant wait !

Cheers !

A shout of welcome from Manteca. Are you planning Hwy 101 or I 5 for your trip to the South?

We are newbies in So Cal. We have found some nice places we enjoy.

1. Cachuma Lake (above Santa Barbara) nice county park about 10 miles from Solvang. Beautiful lake surrounded by nice rolling hills. Solvang is fun and you are close to some the wineries in Santa Ynez valley. Great Pinot's and Syrahs.

2 Pismo Beach state park. Nice and good beach access.

3. There is a great park in Bakersfield, Can't remember the name. Good stopping off point. Right in the middle of an orange grove and they let you pick oranges.

4. The Springs at Borrego Springs. Really nice park with 9 hole golf, dog park, fishing lake. Gets hot later in the year but in the spring the desert is beautiful.

4.
Let me know where you are planning to go and I will be happy to send you offline some other suggestions. Would appreciate if you would do the same for No Cal

Rick

Thanks for the warm welcomes!
We are planning on staying at Palm Canyon in Borrrego Springs.
Heading down I5 and at the moment the plan is to overnight at a Pilot or Flying J somewhere south of Bakersfield on the way down.

Cheers!

If you take Hwy 58 in Bakersfield going toward Barstow there is an RV park called Orange Grove about 5 miles East off of Edison Road. 58 to the junction of 395 then south to I 15 down to I 215 then I 10 to Indio you miss almost all of the LA basin traffic. Only steep grade is Tehacipi Pass and downgrade at Cajon Pass into San Bernadino.
