Greetings from South Dakota

we're going to be first year snowbirds this fall. been doing a LOT of research, watched tons of youtube videos...

my criteria, i want to see grass and trees. don't care for fl., al, ms. la...

wife's criteria, would like to be near water.

that pushes us into the gulf coast of texas, which would be very convenient for us being straight south.

based on what we'd like, the mustang island of texas keeps topping our list.

if not, why not?

if so, what do you like about it?

I tried to look at specific rv parks but when I tried to get pricing the site says to call for booking for that far out. when I am able to see info I get sticker shock $2600 a month? we will more than likely only snowbird end of December to beginning of march any help you can give would be appreciated also if I want to PM me you can I will follow this post closely
again welcome God bless and safe travels Rick & Karen

I'm also from SD. Although not near the Gulf (but not too far), checkout the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in Texas. It's an Oasis along the Rio Grande river (Brownsville to Mission, Tx). Fruit trees (oranges, grapefruit, lemons) are everywhere. I've stayed a number of times at a place near Mission, TX called Green Gate Grove (GGG). Google them as they have their own website which will list the lots that are for rent (or buy). Each spot is individually owned so need to contact the owner. RV lots rent for $400 to $550 a month plus electricity. But in the RGV area their are multiple RV Parks and thousands of places to rent. The population in this part of Texas doubles in the wintertime when a lot of snow birds head south. The weather stays mild to warm during the winter, but some nights in January may drop into the low 50s or high 40s. Doubt it ever freezes. By March though you'll have near 100 degree days. Most places have a clubhouse and plenty of things to do.
