Hi eveybody, new here of course, but been RV'n for a few years now. I am a professional Firefighter, and a self proclaimed tech junkie. Anyway, we pull a 2004 Rockwood TT with a Silverado 1/2 ton 2wd. We mostly camp locally, but take a couple 500-700 mle jaunts per year. Came here looking for any ideas, mods etc. to make the camping experience a little easier. I also have a bike, a 2000 Honda Shadow ACE, and if I can drag it with me anywhere, I will. I like to talk, so you will prolly see me posting a good bit. Thanks for letting me in, and I hope to see some of you all soon!

Glad to see you here at IRV2. By all means, do come often. And remember that the only dumb question is the one that you did not ask.

cfd37buckeye, Nice rig! I am guessing you are somewhere in OHIO because of the "Buckeye" part of your handle. Have you ever camped in the "Poke-eee-Knows"? That is some beautiful country up there, but a little too cool for me in the winter time.
Best to you and good camping!

Glenn

cfd37buckeye-
Glad you found us & welcome to irv2. If it wasn't your name, we'd a known you were a buckeye by your license plate.

We've got a very active group that get together quite often from about April through October. Most of us are from central & NE OH, W PA & W NY. Feel free to join us anytime. Check out the Pond Piggie section in the North Central Region forum for upcoming gatherings. Right now, things are kinda quiet since it's the dead of winter & all our rigs are in storage, but we'll be posting soon. Look for us.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome. I have already learned a good bit, and I want to go buy a Champion generator even though I don't do too much primitive camping. I am located at the crossroads of America I-70 & I-77. We have the best State Park in Ohio here in Salt Fork, A nice privately owned campground called Sprng Valley that is right off of I-70, and our favorite Seneca Lake (www.mwcd.com) We are heading to Ocean City this summer, anybody have any suggestions? We are staying @ Frontier Town.

Salt Fork is one of the Pond Piggies favorite state parks. I'm sure we'll be there this year sometime. We're there as a group, usually, at least once a year & some of us go, either by ourselves or just a couple families, more than once. We always get the full h/u's in Section G. Although I'm personally also fond of several of the electric only sites in Section F. Dave & I just love the Dancing Donkey for BBQ!! That's a new location on RT 22.

What comments do you have about the Seneca Lake Park campgrounds? I just found that website last fall & it (as well as the others in that watershed group)looks like a nice place. I'm originally from the Mansfield area so I'm already familiar with the Charles Mill Lake surroundings. I know I'd like to get to Seneca Lake & Atwood this next season.

Hope to meet up with you sometime.

We are big fans of Seneca. Off weekends are really nice, there are some sites right on the water if you show up early in the week. Holidays are a zoo down there, but we enjoy the crowd, and everyone is VERy nice. If you like sitting by the fire late at night, and just enjoying the area, it is great. There are lots of tall pines, a good bit of "fairly" level sites. All of the sites have electric, but there are very few that have water and sewer. That ismy biggest complaint with the place. The price has gone up over the last few years to $30 a night. To me, that is a lot for just electric. Restrooms and showerhouse are so-so, but are clean and sufficient. Every weekend there are activities at the pavillion. The Marina Point CG is where we are at all the time. The beach side is mostly park models, and to me is a little slower paced than MPCG. The original Dancing Donkey is 7 miles from the park in Buffalo.

I play golf at Salt Fork on a regular basis. Believe it or not, I have never camped out there. I love the park, but I have heard too many bad things about the rangers out there. I do believe there needs to be a law presence, but some things are a little overboard. My wife used to work at the court here, and she saw all of the tickets that were written by the PR's, and some of the stuff is rediculous. One instance was an individual that was observed consuming an alcoholic beverage inside of his cabin. First of all, is the ranger peeping? and is that guy bothering anyone? I am by no means a drunk, but that is one of lifes simple pleasures to me......sitting by the fire and throwin back a few chilly pops. Anyway, I am rambling now.....so, if ya'll have any other ???'s about the area, let me know.
