Hello From Alaska!

Just stumbled across this site today while looking for info for our big RV trip this summer and decided it's a group I might want to join.

Every other summer we take off on an adventure to the lower 48 - this summer we are heading out for 2 months with no destination, just a general area to turn around and head back. Only time crunch is finding a place to stay for 4th of July weekend and to be back home by July 22 Will be a fun trip - we have been looking at areas through on google earth to get ideas of what towns we are wanting to visit and making sure we can park the RV. It will be the first trip without our daughter - we will see how this goes, who will break down first me or her

And every summer we drive down atleast once to Valdez Alaska to do some fishing! Beautiful down there and never come back empty handed.

Anyway, I'm Sheli and my hubby is Kevin - we really enjoy spending as much time as we can out in the RV traveling. We are self employed, so that helps when the traveling bug hits - no need to wait for time off, just post a note on our door and we are outta here haha!!

Hi Sheli & Kevin

Glad to have you here with us.

Everyone in the lower 48 wants to come to Ak. and you want to come down to the lower 48. It would help if we knew what type of trip you are looking for, outdoor, cultural etc.

July 4th weekend can be a challenge but you can always find a spot somewhere. Just make that a date when you definitely want to be someplace specific and make early reservations.

Good luck with your plans. Happy Trails!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

We actually go down to the lower 48 for business - mostly shopping for the antique stores we are in up here but we do love to see the sights and check out interesting landmarks and such. So far my favorite has been the Anasazi ruins in Mesa Verde Colorado.

On one of our trips out we didn't think of making reservations for 4th of July, luckily we were able to sneak in one in Yellowstone. We did have plans on staying at a friends house, but he had to cancel.

the other day we went in to visit our new tax preparer and he asked how much of our trip is work. I told him that we work 24/7 year round except for the few days we are out in the middle of nowhere Canada where we don't get cel reception haha!!
