This site is just what I need! My wife and I own a 2002 Winnebago Itasca Suncruiser 35ft. We just had a big breakdown. The shroud broke loose and created havoc. It has been in the shop for almost a month. I think and hope I can get it out of the shop next week. I'm expecting a whopper of a bill. The estimate was approximately $7,000.00! Not having any luck with Workhorse in regards to a recall even though there have been many workhorse owners who have had this same problem.

I'm real curious how a fan shroud could cause anywhere near a $7,000. bill

Hey, reeber:

What's a "shroud?" I know in general, but, what "shroud" are you referring to?? Just curious.

Welcome to iRV2 Reeber. I'm just north of you in Healdsburg. Sorry to hear about your problem.. Geez, $7k for a shroud.. I assume it's the fan shroud. That's a whopper. Where did you take it?

My guess since the OP hasn't responded yet is the shroud broke apart and took several components with it. Seems though in the RV world if it's in an RV they charge double for it.

For one thing we were on the road headed to Idaho. The temperature was 99 degrees out and we were pulling a jeep. After we knew we had a problem we stopped in Weed for the night at a great little park(Friendly RV Park). The next morning we determined that the nearest shop was in Yreka so I didn't have a choice of service. I'm also handicapped and unable to do any manual inspections myself so unfortunately i have to rely on others. A block test was done and it was determined that a head gasket was blown. The first estimate was for anything linked to the cooling system plus the head gasket problem. I will see if they salvaged any of the parts(water pump, etc). Another one of the problems is that workhorse keeps sending the wrong parts(3 times for radiator and the most recent was the fan clutch). Hopefully the final bill will be less but I have my doubts.

Wow, sure sorry to hear that....

We did a similar trip this summer. I had a woodcarving event in Ellensburg, WA. We stopped at Friendly RV Park the first night. Price was right..

Later on up past Redmond, OR to a nice little place for the night and finally to Ellensburg. After the woodcarving event we headed to Boise to see some of my kids.. in time for my granddaughters B'day.. stayed longer than we intended and wound up trading in the Hitchhiker for a motorhome.. I drove it home and DW drove home the P/U.

Now all I have to do is sell the PU.. but will probably pull the B&W hitch out first.. and sell/trade that separately.

Good luck on your trip.. and hope this is the last problem you have..
