Hello from Colorado

Hi everyone,

I found this site a few weeks ago and have been exploring A LOT! My DH and I have been loosely toying with the idea of getting an RV for a year or so and finally visited a dealer about a month ago, just to get an idea of what we might like in terms of manufacturer, size, etc. We are leaning towards the Newmar Ventana line (DH loves the Comfort Drive and we are big diesel fans in our everyday cars), but are in slight disagreement as to how long it will be before we pull the trigger. He's thinking 5-6 years and I'd like to cut that down by about 2/3! We have two very sweet yellow Labs (Bella -10 and Gracie -6) that I would love to start taking on vacations with us.

At this point, other than trying to convince DH to buy sooner , I'm checking out floor plans and options, to get an idea of what our total cost may be. Quite honestly, I think the VERY earliest even I would want to buy would be next summer, after we've had a look at the 2016 models. I'm hoping that by then, some of the Dutch Star standards/options will be available on the Ventana!

Looking forward to exploring the forums a bit more and learning as much as I can!

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Kiki! Glad you decided to join. You picked a great group of folks to help with questions; we followed this set of forums for a year as we decided what we want to purchase. Folks here were a great help. Good luck with your search...and with moving up the timeline. We did and have not regretted it.

Glad to have you here with us.

If you are looking at the Ventana, but like the options and standards on the Dutch Star, consider this idea. When you are ready to buy look for a DS that is 2 yrs old it will be the same price as a new Ventana. Plus on a 2 yr old coach the problems will all have been worked out.

Best of luck in your search.

Happy Trails!!!!
