Hello from Ellenton, FL

Don't have an RV...yet. 45 yo Service-connected disabled vet. 2 kids in college and 2 in HS. Former network and multimedia engineer. I research everything to death, which when it comes to big purchases like an RV, the wife loves.

And, frankly, I have to admit, it makes the home buying process seem easy in comparison...

So many questions... so many different answers... so many "rituals" that frankly are just...baffling to me. Some I really look forward to while others I think are, well, to be kind...unworthy of the industry. I'm specifically referring to the delivery process.

Boy oh boy, even if I had the money in my pocket, I dunno if I could pull the trigger right this second because of that uncertainty.

Anyway, I'm very happy to have found this place and I really hope to learn as much as I can from this friendly bunch as I approach the (eventual) purchase of my first RV.

You should be able to find enough information here to make an informed decision of which way to go.

Well I surely appreciate the welcome.

I have so many questions, I'll have to slow my brain down and take a breath and figure out where best to ask them.

I mean everything from driving classes, do some states require commercial certs for RVs with tag axles and/or vehicles longer than 40 ft? to more mundane things like do the RV GPS systems take clearance into account (I know folks who just use Google Maps or Apple Maps *shudder* don't really have that option as far as I know)?

Anyway, great site and great folks here. I've already learned a TON.

Thx, everyone!

License is based on the state you are from. Private use I don't believe Florida requires a special license for private use. But you also want to take into consideration overall length if you are going to be towing a vehicle.

LazyDays in Tampa has free seminars including one for driving. But there are also online vids that will help.
