Hello from Florida
Hello, my name is Betty and I am new to your forum. My husband, Bud and I, just purchased our first motorhome. It is a 32ft Hurricane. We have only done a couple of local trips but look forward to traveling next spring. We will stay in Florida for the winter.

Welcome Betty & Bud, from another Floridian (Tampa area). I know you will enjoy this forum because there is so much knowledge here. With over 50,000 members there's bound to be someone that has had the same problem,(although I hope you don't have any). Happy Trails, as Roy & Dale used to say!

Welcome to IRV2 !!! Great place to learn from others adventures without suffering the consequences yourself !!!!!! lol
WELCOME to FLORIDA... leave all your money and go back home !
Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if they wont let us shoot them ???
Will the last redneck leaving Florida PLEASE bring our American Flag with ya !
You will hear it all, some everyday openly, others only behind your back...
Florida "used" to be a great place to retire but:
2004/2005 Huricane Ravages have shot HO Insurance thru the roof !
Crime fueled by rampant drug abuse is out of control.
We are literally overwhelmed by police presence and it has had minimal effect !
Citrus is cheaper out of state than in Florida... go figure that one.
Go to a store and TRY to find something NOT made in China or imported from California... is there a difference anyway ?
Try and work on your RV, outside, from May to December... only possible from 5:00 am to 9:00 am or after 9:00 pm, unless you have icewater for blood or are a "Native".
Possibly visiting will only cost ya the extras for groceries and products, but someplace other than Florida is a smart move for anything taxed, insured, or permanent !
I do NOT suffer from mental illness, but rather enjoy it daily !

Well, it sounds like Megaroadie is the one who wants to leave Florida. Or maybe he likes it so much he is just trying to scare others off so he can have it all to himself.
We've lived there since 1977 and find it quite congenial, and hope you will as well. Currently in the Ocala area, but used to live on the Gold Coast in Boca Raton.

Thanks for your warm welcome
Thank you all for your warm welcome.
We have actually lived in Jacksonville since 1987. Bud retired in 2008 and I semi-retired last July. I still have a part time job for a while. We sold our house (hurrah) and then bought the motorhome. We are currently staying in Starke, Fl. where our son lives.
Next spring we are going on the road and so looking forward to it. We will definitely be picking some brains on situations we come across.
