Hello from Iowa
We recently purchased a 1988 31' Winnebago Elandan motorhome. We bought it "as is" from a gentleman for a very reasonable price considering it wouldn't start nor did it have brakes. We had it towed to a repair facility to have the engine and brakes repaired ...we just wanted it to be safe to drive home where we could begin bringing it back to acceptable condition.
This is our first motorhome style RV. When the kids were young we traveled thousands of miles with a pickup & TT. The kids are grown with families of their own now ...our daughter & son-in-law have a nice P/U & TT. This is why my wife got the bug to get back into RVing and she's the one who found the motorhome we now have. I reluctantly agreed to buy it because I knew how much work I might be in store for. That was in March.
Our first outing was Labor Day Weekend and we had a great time. We dry camped because I still have an unresolved plumbing issue. One benefit to dry camping is passing by the dump station when leaving ...especially at the end of Labor Day weekend!
We're happy we have this unit now and will be continuing to improve it as time passes. Actually I'm rather proud of it now. I'm also looking forward to learning tips and methods here and maybe making a few new friends.
Respectfully,
Scott & Debbie

Welcome to the forum... Maybe you can post what plumbing issue you have And maybe get some answers. And then you can use the facilities in the MH and not have to do the campground walk when neded Peace...D

Welcome, if you go to the Winnebago site, Winnebagoind.com you will be able to find all the info you should need, electrial, plumbing etc. Also give them a call they are very helpful people. Also think about joining WIT and going to the Grand National Rally every July.
Good luck and happy camping.

There's a leak under the floor between the bathroom, on one side of the unit, and the shower, on the other side of the unit. If I'm lucky I may be able to replace the bad piece of tubing by fishing a new one through the tunnel ...otherwise the floor needs to come up.

Thanks,
Right now we're happy with just making it out to Pleasant Creek and back. It'll be a while before we venture far from home.

Welcome. I've got to give you credit for buying a MH that didn't start. I don't think I'd be that brave. Glad it turned out fine though. Good luck finishing the job.

I'll do that, but I need my wife to take & upload them for me. Someday I may learn how to do that.
I'm a Navy vet too ...submarines.

Lol! I know what you mean. In prior years I would never had even considered it. Now that I'm in my fifties I'm more daring.
We had it worked on at a local car dealership. I needed someone with carburetor skills [that's a dying technology] plus could work on the chassis at the same place. The service guy said we needed a new carb. He had one in his garage that he gave us. I was very happy about how we were treated there. I won't hesitate to take it there again for some future work I don't want to tackle.

Scott,
Thanks for your service to our country, our grandson was in the Navy in submarines, but did not like it so he did not re-up. I do not think I could take them myself.
We also like Morgan Creek.
Lichtsinn Motors in Forest City is a good source for info and parts they can put you in contact with suppliers for older MH.
