New to everything RV
Been wanting to do this for years. Went for breakfast one beautiful spring day last year and as we drove by Leisure days, I said, lets stop and look at the trailers (we've been doing this a bit last few years). After 2 hours of seeing, dreaming, I asked the sellsman which truck he would recommend. He said Dodge. So off we went to the Dodge dealer and got a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4X4 with a Hemi. Fast forward to this year, we talked ourself off and on of getting a travel trailer but since the bug would not let off, I went back to Leisure days. I was in to get a Jayco but there was this beautiful Forest River Shasta Revere 21 FBS LE sitting right beside the Jayco.
After I found out it was made by Forest River, I was sure it would be a good product (I hope, time will tell). I thought it being a 21 foot trailer (25.5 total exterior lentght) there would be no problem towing this with the Ram. I never even looked at the numbers!!! anyways, turn out it will be good. The Shasta is heavy for it's size but it might have to do with the big 42 inch slide. the GVWR is 7650 and tongue weight is 750 lbs. I started fretting about the whole number things but it's working out good. We got a Reese Dual Cam HP Weight distribution and sway control unit and it seems to pull good.
Our first outing is this up coming weekend at the KOA Ivy League near Kingston to practice. It will be a our first time.

Boubou;

We are glad you joined us. Congratulations on your purchase. Your post brought back pleasant memories of when my DW and I purchased our first RV. The first RV purchase was for us a very exciting event and it sounds like it is for you. Browse the forums that interest you and don't be afraid to ask questions as we have a great group here who like to help when they can. Post often and share your RV adventures with us.

Welcome and congrats on the new rig! Have fun this weekend on your first trip. Being total new to everything ourselves, we find that each trip we learn something new!! (and also have managed to stay married)

Hi folks! Welcome to IRV2! Congrats on the new rig! You can't go wrong with Forest River. We've been very happy with our Cedar Creek and have gotten outstanding support from the factory. Hopefully the other Forest River divisions give the same good service. Good luck & God bless!
