I have towed anything from a pop up to our current 33' fiver with trucks from 1/2 ton up to 1 ton dually diesel. I have towed a 30' Sunline about 6,500 lbs with a 2001 Dodge 1500. It handeled the job just fine with the proper equipment. Godd tranny cooler and a Reese Dual Cam hitch setup. From there we moved into a 27' ultra lite 5th wheel with the Dodge. Again it did a good job of hauling the trailer which again ran around 6,500 lbs. We then upgraded to a '99 Ford F-350 crew cab dually 7.3 diesel. That truck pulled the lite fiver like it was a pop up. We then upgraded to our current trailer and never thought twice about the weight. It handeled it great. As you can see from my sig we are now back to a gas truck, and it handles the trailer great as well. There are so many options out there for tow vehicle trailer combinations. As long as you match them appropriately, a 1/2 ton truck can be a good tow vehicle as long as you don't ask too much of it, 3/4 ton is better, and of course the 1 tons opens up a bunch of possibilities.
