Hello, we are Jerry and Marlynda Roiger from Fargo North Dakota. Currently we are travelling in a 2000 Winnibego Adventurer heading towards Pharr Texas. We are going there to check out my uncles place to see if it will suit our winter needs. ( time to get out of the snow

) We will be travelling back to Minnisota where we have a home in a campground on a small lake. we are very new to this retirement thing and are a little nervous but should be ok. we are both wood carvers although jer is a whole lot better than I am his bears are great (sorry had to brag a little I'm very proud of his talents

) we are also very excited about this site and the chance to meet other retirees thanks and hope to hear from any of you soon marlynda

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your retirement and decision to get out of the snow!!!

Snowbirds are always welcome in South Texas. Wave to us as you pass through San Antonio.

Welcome to the forum. Ask any questions you have. Everyone here has been very helpful to me during our first year of RV ownership.

You will find that there is a lot to do in the Valley, as it is known in Texas. Be careful about venturing across the border. I know there are "pockets" of safe places to visit there, such as Nuevo Progreso, but the risk has increased quite a bit in the larger border cities compared to years past. I used to not think twice about going across the border to have lunch or dinner or to shop for a few things. However, I have not ventured that way in over 3 years now. There are lots of stories (some true) about restaurant patrons being robbed, or worse. It's sad for the business owners in Mexican border towns. If they are still in business, they have to be hurting.

Enjoy your winter stay. Pharr is adjacent to McAllen. McAllen is the most popular and modern of the border towns in the Valley.
