hello from Ontario Canada

Hi to all,
We are not new to the forum, have not posted in ages. Bought new computer, lost all previous info from old one.
Bought new truck this April. Traded the "infamous"(04) F350 6.oL for a new 2010 Ram 3500 diesel mega cab 4x4 with all the bells and whistles. Its Black and tan and ever so comfy. Have not pulled 5er with it yet, but soon.

Glad to be back in the forum. Hope all are doing well and traveling safely.

Looking forward to reading posts and helping when we can..

We use to go to Rama Dama way too much.

One night I saw the guy from Alcohol and Gaming "Enhancing" as he put it, a machine.

He was enhancing it all right!

We still go occasionally but we tend to say casiNO most of the time.

We really should get all of the local RVers together around here and have a mini rally at Rama.

Rumble @ Rama.................Rally @ Rama...........I like the sounds of that!

We could take over the back parking lot. Jacks down, slides out, awnings out, generators running....... It would be a hoot!!

Welcome back, springwater. If you'd like, one of our Admin staff could reunite you with your prior member info. Just click on the Contact Us link (bottom or top of page) tell us you'd like to get your old info back & one of 'em could research it & put you back together with it.

how far up north are you planning on? We are about 100km from Toronto, not really up north, but we are surrounded by potato fields and canola..beautiful area.
Niagara is also a very nice area and close to the border for cross shopping..outlets in NY!!
Any get togethers in Quartzsite for this coming winter?
That trip to Rama sounds interesting!! can I bring the cat!

Hello Ontario

Donna and Elvin -thanks for your reply - don't have any definite plans yet but can no longer work on RV's in TO - the RV dealers are still recovering from the last two years so employment opportunity in another location may be better next year so we will see - looking forward to moving out of the big city - one things for sure - you need lots of room to work on RV's especially for things like slidout repairs etc. and the rural areas are better locations for this - that get together at Casino Rama would be something !! - RVer's are a good group of people and always helpfull- always enjoy getting together with anyone who likes the RV lifestyle - have seen many RV's in TO in the last two years, mostly rental class C's from across Canada and the USA and helped out a couple of them with minor problems like generator not starting etc. and the people were always freindly and appreciative - I will post my future location when it happens if anyone needs assistance or advice.

We live fairly close to Rama so I will drop by there in the next day or so to see if they will let us do our thing in the back lot and what day(s) they would suggest to see if we can make this work.

It will be dry camping for sure BUT the bar will probably be open!

What we need is a good honest mobile tech!!! Nobody around here can answer or solve problems, they seem just to create more.

hello from Ontario

RV feller - I worked as an auto mechanic for 20 years then the RV business and I have to tell you the difference is like night and day - the repair and warranty procedures are very different and not every dealer is set up for all types of repairs - generators are a big example - also the interaction between the RV manufactures and the dealers and the parts manufactures can be very difficult at times especialy when it comes to warranty repairs - also with RV's a technician has to deal with several different systems especially the electrical and electronic control systems in the newer RV's - I just completed a troublshooting clinic put on by the RVIA from the USA late last year and there was not enough time to cover the different topics for the sytems on RV's especially the new controls, AC units, energy managment systems etc.- each instructor did an excellent job given the short amount of time and one thing is clear- upgrading and training is now at the same level as the auto industry especially where it concerns electronics - many of the dealers here do make an effort to take care of their customers but the warranty claims are not always paid by the RV manufactures and the dealers sometimes end up eating the cost - also think of the many systems on an RV- can one person know how to repair not only these systems but deal with the different manufactures products? - RV's are no longer a box put on a truck chassis and how many dealers have the required number of qualified personnel to handle every part of an RV? - the industry is starting to improve but it will take a long time and how many young people are there that are interested in the RV industry? - the result of all this is a lack of qualified people and this results in unsatisfactory repairs and difficluties between the dealer and the customer- for anyone entering the service end of the RV business it is a real challenge and things are starting to improve- I think this last downturn in the economy has opened some peoples eyes and hopefully there will be more people who want to get involved in the RV industry and more training will be made available- also there is a new diagnostic system that we are starting to see for RV's that will help in dignosing problems with the coach part of an RV - you can see it at www.rv-c.com - what do other members think? - all comments welcome!
