Hello from Philadelphia

My husband and I are new to rving. We just started in August taking 3 small trips so far. We bought a 5th wheel, a forest river, phoenix Shasta and tow it with an F250. We are loving it. Our last child went to college and we decided that we do not want to be cold this winter. We are planning on heading west, Arizona, Cali, Jan- march.
I need to mention that we are traveling with our 2 goldens.

We have found that the 5th wheel has very limited storage, so we have been toying with trading rv and truck in for a class a.

I have 2 questions
1. Anyone go from 5th wheel to class a? Both Positive and negative info welcomed.
2. Suggestions on places to stay/ visit on our trek out west and where. To stay out west.
Thanks!

last December we traded a Crossroads cruiser 33 and F250 Ford for a coach. The transfer was easy because of the limited storage space of the 5th wheel and the back of truck was also loaded.

Just a bench-mark from our experience. We started out with a 1985 26' Class C. After a season and a half, we bagged it. Not enough room inside, nowhere near enough storage and absolutely awful gas mileage with the carburated 460 Ford.

After a couple of years away, we bought an '02 Georgetown 325 Class A at 8 years old. Loved all the extra storage, the aft bedroom and the slides. Gas mileage with the V-10 was 20% better than the old POS.

Unfortunately, $4.25 a gallon gas and $50 CG fees ran us off. We still miss the lifestyle, but when a hobby starts eating into your IRAs, it's time to quit.

Keep in mind that snowbirds love Arizona so you may want to call ahead for reservations.

We went from a 5th wheel to a class a years ago and we never run out of storage. It's the best move we made. Good luck with your search. Look, look and look before buying. There is plenty out there to choose from. If your not sure on what to look for, read, read and read. Ask for help. Hire a tech to check out what you think is your dream coach before buying. Good luck on your search.

we have had several motorhomes since 1977, from the Box, to Southwind, to Bounder. then tried c class the 2 different sizes of 5th wheels. last year went to a gasser V10, and now to the Phaeton pusher. So I guess you could say I enjoy my MH.
